A Blessing for One Who Is Embarking on an Adventure
May your feet be anchored
to the sandy floor,
as the tides rise around you.
May you drop everything
that would weigh you down,
trusting the ocean
can absorb it all.
May the waves
which would toss you
instead, gently carry you forward,
weightless like a sea bird.
May you sail out
past the breakers,
trusting your compass will
point the way.
And may you know
the joy of sea turtles and sailors,
upon returning to the shore
and your beloved.
In the name of God who calls you,
Christ who steadies you,
and the Spirit who brings you home,
Amen
